This privacy policy applies to the Fam Comm app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by Fam Comm (collectively, the "Application"). Fam Comm is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".
Information Stored on Your Device
The Application does not have accounts and does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. The information you enter is stored only on your device, encrypted by your device's secure storage, and is not sent to the Service Provider:
- Emergency contacts. The names and phone numbers you add. If you allow access to your address book, the Application reads names and phone numbers from it only to show you a list to choose from, and saves only the contact you pick. Your address book is not uploaded or stored.
- Medical and ICE profile. The medical details you choose to enter, such as conditions, medications, allergies, and blood type.
- Emergency message. The text sent with an SOS or Notify All.
- Location. If you allow location access, your location is read only when you send an emergency message, and only to include it in that message. It is not stored or tracked in the background.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode. Used to unlock the Application. The check is performed by your device's operating system; the Application never receives your biometric data or passcode.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, any reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
When you send an SMS from the Application, it is sent through your device's messaging app to the recipients you choose, under your mobile carrier's terms. The Service Provider does not receive a copy.
You can remove contacts or medical details in the Application at any time. On Android, deleting the Application deletes this information. On iOS, the operating system may keep it in your device's keychain after the Application is deleted, so remove it in the Application first if you want it gone.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Application or its third-party SDKs may use cookies, SDKs, pixels, and similar technologies to support functionality, analytics, or service delivery. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider will obtain consent before using non-essential tracking technologies.
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) are off unless you turn them on. You are asked when you first open the Application, and you can turn them on or off at any time from the Usage Statistics setting on the home screen. Crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics) is always on, because it is how the Service Provider learns that the Application has failed and fixes it; this is processed on the basis of the Service Provider's legitimate interest in keeping an emergency application working.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
The Application uses two services provided by Google LLC as part of Firebase: Google Analytics for Firebase, to understand how the Application is used, and Firebase Crashlytics, to detect and fix crashes and errors. These services receive:
- A random identifier created for your installation of the Application. It is not your name, phone number, email address, or advertising ID, and it resets if you reinstall the Application
- The names of the screens you view (for example, "Home" or "Medical Profile"), when you view them, and how long you use the Application
- Your device model, operating system version, language, and Application version
- Your approximate location at country or region level, which Google derives from your IP address
- If the Application crashes or encounters an error, technical details of that failure, such as the error message and where in the code it occurred
Your emergency contacts, medical and ICE profile, emergency message, and precise location are stored only on your device. They are not sent to Firebase or to the Service Provider. Your location is included only in an SMS that you choose to send.
The Application does not collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS or Advertising ID on Android), does not show ads, and does not use Firebase data to track you across other companies' apps or websites. The Service Provider does not sell this data.
Screen names and usage data are sent only if you have turned on usage statistics. Google processes this data on the Service Provider's behalf, may process it outside your country, including in the United States, and retains Analytics event data for up to 14 months and Crashlytics crash reports for up to 90 days. For more information, see Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by the Service Provider. Because the Application has no accounts, the Service Provider holds no data that identifies you by name, email address, or phone number. The information you enter stays on your device, where you can view, change, or delete it yourself. Usage and crash data is linked only to a random installation identifier, which the Service Provider cannot match to you from your name or email; turning off usage statistics stops further usage data, and reinstalling the Application replaces the identifier. To exercise your rights, or for help with any of this, contact the Service Provider at famcommapp@gmail.com.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact the Service Provider at famcommapp@gmail.com.
Third Party Access
The usage and crash data described under "Analytics and Crash Reporting" is transmitted to Google, which acts as a service provider to the Service Provider. This data is linked to a random installation identifier rather than to your identity. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.
International Data Transfers
The Service Provider or its third-party service providers may transfer personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the Service Provider will use appropriate mechanisms:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Adequacy decisions or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms
- Your consent, where required and legally permitted
Data protection laws in other countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by law, the Service Provider will apply appropriate safeguards and obtain any consent required for the transfer.
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information the Service Provider discloses to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop further collection of information from your mobile device by uninstalling the Application. Uninstalling will stop the Application from collecting data from your device, but it does not automatically delete information that has already been transmitted to the Service Provider or to third parties.
To request deletion of your personal data, to withdraw consent, or to exercise any of your rights, contact the Service Provider at famcommapp@gmail.com.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider retains personal data based on its necessity for the stated purposes:
- Information you enter in the Application: Stored only on your device until you delete it, as described under "Information Stored on Your Device". The Service Provider does not hold a copy
- Usage statistics: Retained by Google for up to 14 months from collection
- Crash reports: Retained by Google for up to 90 days
- Aggregated and Anonymized Data: Retained indefinitely as it no longer identifies you
- Data required for legal compliance: Retained as long as required by applicable law
You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal obligation to retain it, by contacting the Service Provider at famcommapp@gmail.com.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from children or market the Application to them.
The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. The Service Provider encourages all children to never submit any personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services. The Service Provider encourages parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy by instructing their children never to provide personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application and/or Services, please contact the Service Provider so that they will be able to take the necessary actions. If you are under 16 years of age, your parent or guardian must provide consent on your behalf where permitted by law.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.
Data Breach Notification
If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including, where required, providing information about the nature of the breach and the steps being taken to address it.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy with an effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect.
Previous versions of this Privacy Policy will be maintained and made available upon request by contacting the Service Provider at famcommapp@gmail.com.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-10-18.
Your Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you provide that consent by affirmatively opting in to the relevant feature or action. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Processing based on other lawful bases is carried out as described above.
